Ril:  Fnatic bested the reigning champions, Team Liquid, in the Dreamhack Heroes of the Storm finals.

Mike:  Fnatic wins $10,000 for its first major title in Heroes of the Storm.

Kali:  Fnatic also battled Team Dignitas and mYinsanity to earn the title.

Heroes Rising

Online qualifier for Heroes Rising the Kickstarter funded Heroes tournament was 12/5

Gillyweed and Zoia did an amazing job casting the Online Qualifiers. Ten talented teams battled it out to secure one of four invitations to the main event:

2ARC Gaming
Team Blaze
Lowkey x5
Gale Force Esports
oVo Gaming
PsiStorm Gaming
Bob Ross Fan Club
Stellar Lotus

In the end, four teams came out on top: Team Blaze, Blank, Bob Ross Fan Club, and oVo Gaming! Congratulations! These teams have been invited to the main tournament on Jan. 9th-10th for a chance to compete for the $10,000 prize pool.

Ril:  Activision Blizzard has filed a lawsuit against the German company Bossland for creating various bots for Blizzard games that allow players to cheat, including Stormbuddy for Heroes of the Storm. Blizzard has been watching the chatter on the forums along with the reports in game and are taking a hard stance against Stormbuddy.

Mike:  A Blizzard company representative stated, “Bossland’s entire business is based in cheating, and the use of their bots negatively impacts our global player community. That’s why we do not tolerate cheating in our games, and it’s why our players overwhelmingly support that policy.”

Kali:  He went on to say, “We’ll continue to aggressively defend our games and services, within the bounds of the law, in an effort to provide the best possible experience for our players. We want to use this as an opportunity to remind players who might not be aware—using bots, such as those distributed by Bossland, to automate gameplay in our games will result in a loss of access to those games.”

Kali:  I didn’t get any requests for boot camp videos yet, so I chose a topic to talk about this week. Remember, if you want me to create a tutorial for a class, hero, map, or game mechanic, send me a DM on Twitter and I will post it to Twitch/YouTube/my Heroes blog (links in the show notes).

A common mistake I see among players is understanding kill order during a team fight. First and foremost, there is ALWAYS a kill order. This fluctuates based on available CC and your team’s burst damage ability, but for the most part remains the same from match to match. For example, true tanks should almost always be killed last. These would be heroes like Johanna, Tyrael, and Chen. It is important to view your enemy team’s talent choices to see if they are choosing more tank or more bruiser talents. When they are building pure tank or mostly tank, your best bet is to CC them immediately (if they have strong CC) or to just ignore them until last. Your first priority is typically the healer. Again, this depends on talent choices and proximity – taking 6 hits from a DPS to smack the healer once is not a good decision. Next, you want to focus down the burst DPS heroes, such as Kael’thas.
